In what way did Alan Young's last wife take advantage of him?

She had not been his wife since the 90's. They remained somewhat friendly, but he briefly married a friend of his daughter's following the divorce. That did not end well. Sadly, many people try to take advantage of him.

Thanks a bunch! That's right, his birthday is coming up soon so it would be more appropriate to send a birthday card. Thanks for the advice and I'll definitely put my age. I'm such a huge Mister Ed fan so sending a letter to Mr. Young would be amazing for me. My mom watched it in the 60s and I'm so glad she shared this show with me as a kid. I also loved his work in the Time Machine and DuckTales; both I watched as a kid as well.

Hi asuckerforagoodtvshow. I cannot speak for Alan. However, it would really surprise me if Alan Young would pick up the phone and start doing an interview with a complete stranger. Recently, when I spoke with him, we only conversed briefly. I inquired how he was feeling and closed the conversation by informing him how much we loved and admired him.
In addition, I would guess that Alan gets paid to do interviews and that they aren't free. Who knows? Make him an offer. He MIGHT bite.

I will be sending a birthday card and gift to this address and you might want to put your appreciation letter in a birthday card. I am sure he would like to hear from you and I would include your age because I know he would get a kick at having younger fans.

That is a really nice idea about the shortbread cookies. I am not aware if Alan has any health issues that would preclude him from being able to enjoy the cookies. His birthday is coming up in November and this would be a nice gift to include with his birthday card.

I've learned that generally what is really appreciated is a sincere letter, letting them know how much you appreciated their work etc.etc. But if you'd like to send him something perhaps as he has Scottish ancestry a tin of shortbread cookies which can be generally found at any Grocery Store. Might be a cute gift idea.

Well, I am very thankful you shared this so I was able to speak with Alan. I would like to send him a small gift to let him know he is still remembered. Can you recommend something small that he might appreciate? How do I get his room number to ensure Alan receives his gift?

I heard about it from a Q&A I found on youtube with old comedy writers from this year, June Foray a dear friend of his had mentioned that Alan was residing there now and that he is doing very well.

Thanks so much for posting Alan Young's whereabouts. I called him today and he said he is doing fine. I was so shocked to get to speak to him on the phone that I didn't really know what to say. I blurted out "How is the weather there?" Alan responded "Very nice." I think Alan was watching TV when I called. It was GREAT to speak with him.
