Frankly, I was stunned at how much I like it. I'm amazed at this stage in his career he still is making music this good and relevant.
I mean any Morrissey is good Morrissey but instead of me just liking it because I'm already a huge fan I think it holds up and could easily attract new listeners.

Years Of Refusal is simply amazing - both the music and lyrics hit you full in the face. My favourite track has to be 'Thats How People Grow Up:'
I was wasting my time
Trying to fall in love
Disappointment came to me and
Booted me and bruised and hurt me
But that's how people grow up
That's how people grow up
I was driving my car
I crashed and broke my spine
So yes there are things worse in life than
Never being someone's sweetie
That's how people grow up
That's how people grow up

He's Hit and Miss with his solo albums. The music is still the same old same old he hasn't really experimented with it.That's only criticism I would have his lyrics are excellent as usual but the sound of his Rockabilly band isn't all that fresh.Still he has plenty of hits to bang out live and will hang on to his loyal audience I've been to a few of his shows.

I though it was excellent. I wouldn't be a big Morrissey or Smiths fan but got the album as I was going to see him in concert.
Brillany lyrics, music and what a voice! Some real classics.Saw him live last night and he was excellent. Some of the songs from the new album went down really well with the crowd eg "I'm throwing my Arms around Paris"

I totally agree with the way his voice has only grown to higher states in recent years. I love "That's How People Grow Up". PLus that last track "I'm alright by myself". You don't get any better. A great album on all accounts.

I was nervous about it at first to be honest, worried that it just wouldn't measure up, because the thing I found mystifying about Ringleader was that there seemed to be some sort of change in Moz, like he had grown somehow more content, and that in a way made the album seem quite real and beautiful, but also made it seem like a final work. So I therefore wondered what 'Years of Refusal' could bring to the table that wouldn't just be something resembling grasping at straws. But I took to it straight away! It's just so catchy, and smacks of a rebellious Moz saying 'screw you!' and returning to disobedient teenager but still somehow maintaining an air of wisdom obtained in growing older. I've never heard his voice sound so pretty I suppose. I've always loved his sexy voice, but musically it has become more refined, yet still of course interesting and original. He is further embracing sexuality too- 'It's Not Your Birthday Anymore' is simply orgasmic
. I can't decide on a favourite, though I'm leaning towards 'Something Is Squeezing My Skull', 'That's How People Grow Up' or 'All You Need Is Me'. Simply Supoib!

I'm really quite attached to it myself. "Ringleader" was amazing, and I do find it to be a terrific following.
I could catch a falling star if you asked me to, but I can't seem to find one to hold on to.

I really like it. I admire the way it was recorded (all live in the studio) and whilst it's not as lyrically varied as some of his other works, each song seems to have been written for a purpose. And as always, there are plenty of bits which hit so close to home it's unbelievable. It takes a genuine talent to be able to do that.
What's that? You just called me a bastard didn't you!
