That might be the most beautiful hair I've ever seen - so while I doubt you are correct by the cause, if you are, I hope she never combs it.

Where I'm from a rat tail is when the majority of your hair is really short, and there is one gross long bit at the back sometimes in a plait:)

Gorgeous hair. My hair is curly but not nearly as pretty as hers.

Rat tails or not, that girl is blessed with a gorgeous thick, curly head of hair, that a lot of "not so blessed" people with thin, bone-straight hair, that you can virtually see the scalp through, envy. Don't hate her because she's beautiful. Hurray for her, for not letting others bully her into fighting her natural curls, and forcing them straight. Only hair stylists who specialize in her hair type, have a clue about what to do with her hair. The average hair stylist doesn't listen when you tell them that they can't comb it with a fine toothed comb, leave it loose without it getting all tangled, or that it needs to be cut dry. They don't listen because it's counterintuitive to everything they've been taught in their assembly line hairdressing school. Combing hair like hers only creates a dry, frizzy pouf. The only way to keep hair like hers untangled and mess free is to braid it into a ponytail or pigtails most of the time.
