So yeah, she isnt supposed to be 12 in the movie. Just her character feels like 12 in that moment.

apparently you misunderstood the scene where she was remembering being 12 with her fat boyfriend and his "pure love." dottie was not 12 in the movie. she certainly looks younger than 23, which is her actual age, but i've never seen a 12 year old that looks like that.

I also thought she was 12 in the film at first. Then I read some comments and found out they were right. But still, her character might be young. Maybe about 17.

Watch the movie again and actually pay attention. I'm so sick of seeing this "Dottie is 12" crap from people who can't understand dialogue.

Yeah, well I had pretty much the same thought when I watched 'Cracks'. She looked way younger than 20, which was the real age she had at that time, the same goes for the other girls (Imogen Poots & Mara Valverde)!
