This will be like Normal Mailer's piecemeal book. However, if you are a woman and would like to participate, feel free. I would love to compare it to my version.
Me and………. Mrs. Maxwell
I was sitting in my cell all by myself after my former bunkmate was transferred to another cell awaiting trial. All of a sudden after only 5 hours of peace and quiet by myself enters a lady. I knew who she was but I pretended to be dumb so that she would act accordingly. I actually was hoping I would have a little more time to myself because I'm a solitary person, mostly because of the constituents in this place. If I had my choice I would be a very extroverted person.
For some reason this jail is co-ed. Hey if we're going to be equal we might as well have equal rights and not distinguish from gender at all. I'll just identify as a female just so that I could lunch with another female. I've heard some of the reasons are to get rid of homosexuality. I have also heard that the warden of this prison doesn't like women, might be gay closeted, and his sadistic, and has a very darwinian point of view, that only the strong and adaptable survive, especially in a place like prison. Of course you would like this dog-eat-dog world all over, but he only has power in this place.
She answered in wearing a simple jumpsuit just like everyone else. After looking at me she noticed that I had some Basic Essentials that most other inmates didn't have. Because of my unmatched talents, I am able to help out the prison in ways no one else can. Whether it's music or movies or literature or even something simple as translating an inmate who was detained by Ice, I am allowed a laptop as well as a television which only some have. Of course the warden told me that this is only because I need these luxuries in order to further the cause of the prison industrial complex.
She actually said hello very friendly like. She also had a smile which was very unusual, since I have never seen anyone smile upon entering prison. Then again I think she might have been acting over friendly to protect herself.
She wasn't very good looking and didn't have a great body the way I would classify one as, but she was a woman. Of course I smile back and said hello and what nature that I did not reveal my name. Because if I had then she would have gave me her name and she might have had have thought of the consequences, such as me knowing her identity. Luckily she had a very elitist attitude and thought no one in prison was as smart as her or even half as smart as her.
I was sitting in the bottom bunk so is she assumed accordingly and set a few of her belongings on the top bunk. Luckily there were chairs so that communication wouldn't have to be so vertical. She sat in a chair facing me where I was sitting and I put on some music for background noise, but also in hopes to impress her, or at least illicit a response about the music I had playing. As a reward for my work, I was also given an HDMI cable that I could connect to the TV, which I already had already done. Of course, I wondered if she considered this as a tool for a possible suicide, like the man she had procured for, Jeffrey Epstein.
These cells (at least this one) had a closed set, meaning no one could see us. There was the classic slot to enter in food, and any small items. We were down the room from the library, where we were allowed 5 books per week. If we didn't respect the property, we would lose privileges such as these. We did have a somewhat private toilet, but considering the room wasn't very big, it might be a little awkward. As long as inmates weren't causing trouble, we had one hour of recess per day in the open aired environment.
"I've never been to jail before" she cried, without showing any tears.
"Sorry, I'm Jill (Ghisl).."
"I'm Andy.. I can't say its nice to meet you, because of where we are at, but hopefully we can form a more perfect union".
"I hope so. You seem to be a favorite of the warden."
"I am, and anyone who bunks with me reaps some of the rewards…. as long as I don't complain. Just do as you're told, don't object, have common sense, and we'll be fine…. I hope we can be friendly, and not violent… Do you know what I mean?
"I think so, but can you elaborate?"
"First of all, don't ever scream, because no one will help you. I'm sure you heard screams already, and this is normal in this setting. This is hell. They key is to add some sugar into this hell-hole. We might not have the internet, but I've downloaded a good amount of stuff, like music, movies, comedy, literature.. The guards know about it, but then again, I help them out, so its reciprocal. They prefer peace, believe it or not, but they will not interfere with what goes on inside. Once its in here, its safe.. Now, if I were to act like an idiot outside, and intrude or **** up their space, then our space will be ****ed, too."
"Right", she said, vulnerably.
"So I suggest we become friendly in every sense of the word… I also have never b
