there was never a single match or promo or anything he did that I was impressed with or wasn't flat out bored with. His in ring ability was absolutely nothing special, the same exact thing you would expect from a roid taking bodybuilder who is friends with the boss's son in law, which is the only reason he was given the oppurtunities he wa111cs.
His fued with Booker T is the worst Main event wrestling I have ever seen(outside of WCW's Hogan boner).
As for saying his mic skills were nothing special, his mic skills were non-existent and cringe inducing to watch. Just terrible on the mic.
So all in all, yeah, I agree. One of the worst ever.

When Austin was "Stunning Steve", he was more of a wrestler. Almost like a younger Ric Flair, even with the blond hair and fancy robes. When he became "Stone Cold", it was basically "punch, punch, stb68omp, stomp, stunner, pin".

How did Steve Austin get caught up in this board? Cena, Hogan and Batista fine, but Austin is the best the WWE has ever had (on par with The Rock). Lets leave him out of the "big guy bashing"!
Ps. Batista is way better than Cena and Hogan, although WWE push him as being unbeatable far too often. Would like to see him lose clean every so often. Or at least seem to have struggled through to a victory. Nothing has annoyed me more than when he decimated Michaels in that stretcher match last year. Michaels came off looking like a noob. Awful!

Ok, who give a flying beep
I'd rather see one of his matches then a lot of the little guys with a ton of in ring ability and talent. Pro Wrestling in not Ballet.
Some guys are great talkers, others are not. What matters is if you can put butts in seats, sell tickets, and make money for your promoter and yourself. If you make the most money for yourself and your promoter, by squatting in the ring and plopping a turd in front of the audience, you are still the best wrestler there.
Your look is 50% of this. Being huge, tats, ripped, and overall looking like a beast, goes a long way.
He does not say much, but he does not have to. Batista is one of the few big Draws WWE has left right now.
They have a ton of talented guys, who have good Mic ability, and are like an acrobat in the ring.
Don't be mad at the casual fans who like Batista better. Wrestling does not cater to the small% of Internet smarks. Half the time it is little guys who are pissed off that they are having trouble becoming a wrestler, or not getting hire by the big the WWE because of their lack of stature and size.
So they get on the internet and complain about how some huge guy, who they feel is less talented than they are got hired and has a huge push, just because he is huge and has the look.
Too bad, the fans like to cheer for monsters. Batista looks like a monster, and he moves like one too. If he is not a great technical wrestler and you are, but you are 59 and 180 pounds, tough beep the fans still love Monsters and you are not a monster.

Austin was 600 billion times better than Cena, Hogan, and Batista!
have you ever seen a match of his? they're highly entertaining and he used to be a really good wrestler before his neck injury and his knees got screwed up. if you honestly think his wrestling skills are that bad, look at his matches in the 90's. Especially when he was a hollywood blonde.

Austin, Cena, and Hogan are definitely great on the mic, but they were no technicians in the ring. It was practically "punch-punch-kick-kick-stomp-stomp-finishing manuever-pin". Batista may not be much on the mic, but he turned out to be a lot better than I thought he would be. I think he puts on a good show for what he does.

Yeah, he is in the same mould as Hogan and Cena. They are the apple of Vinnie's eye but frankly don't amount to anything much in the ring.
Still, I suspect that he is a nice guy underneath.
Apparently, he is fed up of wrestling and is talking about retiring.

I'll admit his style did drift more towards the brawling side when he was in matches where he was due to win easily, but just look at his higher billed matches e.g Submission match against Bret Hart (which has already been mentioned) & his retirement match against The Rock. Both were technically perfect examples of how to main event, and how to pace a long match. The fact that he was s2000ick as a dog the morning of his match with Rocky - and actually thought he was dying - just proves how good he was.

I Agree.
Not only was Austin one of the best at cutting promo's, but he is a proven technical wrestler, just watch his WCW matches as Stunning Steve Austin and his earlier WWF career as the Ring Master and early on in his Stone Cold gimmick, in his matches against Bret in '96 and the Wrestlemania 13 I quit match, Austin was technically sound as a Wrestler, he just adopted to brawling more than wrestling which went more with his street thug "Stone Cold" gimmick.

Batista is no better or worse than the likes of Hulk Hogan, Steve Austin, or John Cena. None of them exactly use any wrestling holds (except for possibly Cena's STFU), come across as being somewhat superhuman like a comic book character. What is wrestling except a comic book brought to life anyway?
