I know the band that did the original is Irish and Bob is English, so there
could
maybe be some rub in that whole ancient battle thing.
But, from what I'm hearing, it's all to do with the Second World War and the fact that the original band, who did the album, was named after a German war submarine class.
Aren't we all older and wiser now? Can't we just let what Germany did 80 years ago pass?
It's not Bob Vylan's fault that "With Or Without You" is on that album. He remembers it playing when Ross Geller tried to make up with Rachel over the radio in that episode Of Friends and just wants to cover that album.
I think German should let him play at their concerts and forget about the fact that the song was originally produced by a band named after one of their types of war vessel

being popular a mere 20 years after that whole thing and nobody brought up what that entire nation had done to those poor innocent Jews who wouldn't hurt a fly at the time
