It's because Reddit is killing support for 3rd party apps that people love. They've got an IPO coming up soon and everybody knows this is just one of the steps in their inevitable decline. First they ban the 3rd party apps. Then they throw even more ads at you. Try to cram as many social media features as possible. Eventually they'll ban porn like public companies always do. It'll become so bland and watered down that all the users will go away and some new web site will start the same cycle. Which is basically how Reddit became popular in the first place after Digg killed itself.

I have seen alot about it being down due to a strike but no reason for the strike.

I have no idea. I didn't even know about it until today lol. I read that it ends on the 14th so it's only for 2 days.

I don't use the app but I can see why people are annoyed with ads.
