Some people wrote in other threads they didn't really know much about Crowley. Here are some links to more information on him.
Wikipedia gives a lot of background:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aleister_Crowley
There are some conspiracy theories, one of which is that he is the father of Barbara Bush. Here is a link with a good explanation of that one:
http://cannonfire.blogspot.com/2006/04/george-w-bush-barbara-bush-and. html
Actually, if you look at the date of the article it's April 1st, April Fool's Day.
Here is a post from someone that goes further on that one and into the Scientology issue:
http://media.locals.ca/localsconf/viewtopic.php?t=81689
And, here is one about the theory that Crowley was a double for Hitler:
http://www.blackraiser.com/nredoubt/ident2.htm
In the thread on "Movie" I posted several link to the UK movie and where to buy it. One of the links is to a review on a site for an Aleister Crowley Society, which would have more information, as well.

he actually might be george w bush's grandfather.
case in point is the documentary on crowley "in search of the great beast" by robert garofalo which for some reason i cant find on imdb. it says that when crowley was in paris he was visited by pauline pierce who gave birth to barbara bush. It has been stated in many historical accounts that pauline and the other woman she visited paris with were magical 'assistants' to crowley during magical rites. she was mysteriously pregnant after returning to the USA and gave birth to barbara exactly the number of months needed after being in paris. so make of it what you will. its pretty well documented but i can see why no one wouuld want this to get out. so right now it is in the 60% yes 40% no range due to a slight lack of other sources. http://cantontruth.blogspot.com/2008/01/is-occultist-aleister-crowley-george.html

I think the Barbara Bush thing was an April Fools Day joke that got out of hand. Although, I do see a resemblance.
The others, I don't know.
