We all know of misheard lyrics from hundreds of songs. But, for the life of me I can't think of a single one from The Beatles. I think because when they sang they pronounced their words and were very clear. No mumbling or sluring. Clear singing.
So, can anyone think of a mis1c84heard Beatle lyric? I'm curious to know if there are any.

Back in the U.S.S.R is one of the few Beatles songs I can think of that I struggled to make out some of the lyrics on.
Lyrics:
Oh, show me around your snow-peaked mountains way down south, take me to your daddy's farm.
Let me hear your balalaika's ringing out, come and keep your comrade warm
What I heard: Show me round the sloping mountains way down south, take me to your daddy's farm.
Let me hear you bellow like it's ringing out, come and keep your comrade warm.
Lyrics:
and Georgia's always on my mind.
What I heard: and Jojo's always on my mind. (I thought it was a reference to Get Back.)
There's only small bits I misheard in their other songs (such
poppies from a tray
sounding like puppies from a tray).

There are several reputedly "well known" examples; as h111cas already been mentioned, Dylan's "I get high"; and "the girl with colitis goes by", from the song thought by at least some to be "Lucy in
Disguise
with Diamonds", a mis-hearing which inspired the song later that year, "Judy in Disguise (with Glasses)".
And reportedly "Pay for That Chrysler".
And in fact, there are even some mistakes in official
publishing
of their lyrics, apparently owing to a practice prevalent especially in Britain, where instead of the composer supplying the actual lyrics, a staffer at the music publishing company listens to the recording and writes down what he hears. Thus, in the first verse of "Across the Universe", the "official" lyrics were frequently stated as "they slither while they pass, they slip away", which many other singers actually
would
sing when "covering" the song (notably in the movie with this as its title song), whereas what John in fact sang, which some sources did document, was "they slither
wildly as
they slip away" (I'm sure many people won't even believe meyou should listen to the passage in headphones so you can really hear it properly.)

I'm American 5b4and I disagree with this. He clearly says POPPIES, though I thought it meant the actual poppy flower, not one of those fake remembrance ones.

I read this one in a Beatles book and then confirmed it with an American workmate (we're in New Zealand) that the American "ear/accent" hears that the pretty nurse is selling PUPPIES from a tray in Penny Lane, instead of POPPIES (a fake flower to wear on your lapel on Rememberance Day for World War 1). The mental image of a bunch of puppies on a tray.

In "A Day in the Life," the official lyrics read:
They'd seen his face before
Nobody was really sure
If he was from the House of Lords
But it sounds like Lennon says "House of Paul." At least to me.

Norwegian Wood I thought at the start John was singing 'I wanted a girl or should I say she wanted me'
Something
'Don't wanna leave her now I wouldn't even know how'

I can never get 'sweet loretta fart she thought she was a cleaner but she was a frying pan' out of my head when Get Back is played. Damn John lol
I think you're mixing up the line with 'sweet Loretta Martin thought she was a woman but she was another man'. Damn Paul lol

Thanks. Wouldn't it have been great if they had actually been the lyrics
Would have made Lucy In the Sky a more interesting arguement also

Bob Dylan introduced The Beatles to Marijuana because he thought they were saying "I get high" in "I Want to Hold Your Hand" when in reality they were saying "I can't hide".
