It was scheduled to come out in October of 2016, but now no release date is known. No reason was given for the change.
Peele was expected to release his next movie with Universal Pictures in October 2026, but that is no longer the case. Per Variety, Universal Pictures has removed Peele’s upcoming movie from its release calendar. The still-untitled project was last dated for an October 2026 release.
Slated to be the followup to Nope, which has a Certified fresh 83% Rotten Tomatoes critic score, and earned more than $171 million worldwide, the film had originally been set to debut over the Christmas holiday in 2024. However, the release date was moved to the Halloween 2025 season after the 2023 writers’ and actors’ strikes.
The delayed movie has been described as a horror thriller, but as is the case with Peele’s other films, details on the plot have been scarce. In 2024, Peele appeared on the Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend podcast to talk about what was next for him after Nope. “I do feel like my next project is clear to me, and I’m psyched that I have another film, that you know, could be my favorite movie if I make it right,” he said at that time.
