"i read somewhere that some parts of Africa including Madagascar is conjoined to Asia million years ago. So I guess that is when the whole 'mixed' thing happened."
Are you serious??? Oh - my - god. You actually believe that?
Ok first of all Madagascar was conjoined to Asia before the human race even evolved.
Secondly the current human races split up from our common ancestor fairly recently in geological terms, at most 100-250 thousand years ago and that's a very high estimate.
Thirdly Madagascar has a lot of asian blood due to Austronesian sea-farers settling there from East Asia a couple thousand years ago.
Many blacks in America are of mixed race, the only way to determine what you really are is with a DNA test.

I had a supervisor who was a little bit Stephanie Millish/ Alfre Woodardish (brown and not high yellow, attractively pretty, not necessarily drop dead), and she must have been single because she would wear younger hipper clothes. Well, she would tell me how she was infuriated when whites, other minorities or sometime eb68ven black men (smetimes women)would ask what she was mixed with, She said that thaey said it as if she should be flattered that they did not see her as being 100% black. She noted that people don't look at white models who might have jet black hair or full lips and try to see what part of Africa there ancestors come from. She chalked it up as insecurity were she felt these typical business men could feel better if they had an excuse for fiinding her attractive. She said she delighted in saying she was all black so that they could put that in their lexicon and adjust their stereotypes accordingly.
I know this is an ancient post but I had to comment on it. The supervisor described sounds a lot like me and my experiences. Basically I get the whole "you don't look
that
black", like it was a compliment, or repeatedly insisting "you
must
be mixed with something". Just as she described, it always feels like the person(s) had to have an excuse for considering me attractive and just couldn't understand why I was not pleased that they refused to accept that I am black. The problem is that I don't believe people that think like that do "adjust their stereotypes accordingly", I believe they just chalk it off as an exception and keep rolling with their limited views.

A while ago there was a movement among militant Blacks to call Black people "Asiatic" because it is more accurate. (A lot of 80's rappers like Big Daddy Kane and Rakim used the term) The cradle of civilization is the area where Africa and Asia meet. Blacks and Asians are lot more linked than we've been led to believe. So are Native Americans and Asians and Native Americans and Blacks. Basically, we are part of the same gene pool. You could be Black, your parents, your great-great-grandparents were Black but there could be a White, Asian, or Native American in your tree from hundreds of years ago and that person's features can pop up at any time. This could be the case with John Legend and also Sophie Okenedo, Ice-T, Gilbert Gottfried, Ellen Barkin, Beyonce and any other who "looks part-____". The sooner we all realize this the better.

"Now go back to your education courses, kiddo. You are NEW to Imdb." ok, since you think you're so smart, look at the user name. it's plural for a reason. therefore, your reading of "my" other posts would not include my GRAMMAR. as for my education, i'm a product of english honors courses, and i was a duke tip student. did you take the sat in the seventh grade?..most likely not.
"Most AAs do NOT have Asian in their line and there are PLENTY of Africans w/"Asian" eyes, it isn't exclusive. Hell there are even white people with "slanted" eyes. And AAs tend to have NATIVE American, and the Natives tend to resemble Asians, DUH!.There are even BLACK AFRICANS who could pass off as 'Asian'does that mean they are? NOPE. American Indians ARE indigenous to North America and saying they aren't is basically supporting psuedo history. While SOME Native Americans may resemble Asians, that does NOT automatically mean they are. Just like Somalis; many could pass as Indian (India) but does that make Indian? NO."
you're sticking to the racial classifications with your explanations, which would be true when filling out a survey, application, etc. then, blacks are black, asians are asian, etc. also, in no way am i trying to say amerinds are not indigenous to america. they are indigenous when it comes to our government and their rights, or lack thereof. the question you should be asking yourself, though, is, "where did they come from?" the answer is the point to preston-p's comment of NAs being considered asian. like i said before, they migrated from asia continent. once again, i am not trying to put amerinds into the same racial classification as asians. the point is evolution. amerinds came from asia, and asians came from africa. your somalis statement would go with what i'm saying. east indians came from africa. therefore, east indians could resemble somalis. the whole sharing of physical traits comes from migration/mixing, evolution. "And AAs tend to have NATIVE American, and the Natives tend to resemble Asians, DUH!" do you see, now, how your statement really doesn't have a point?
