She generally makes good choices, but no matter how you look at it she's probably kicking herself for turning down Carol now. I read that Rooney Mara was initially interested but turned it down, then Mia came aborad and eventually dropped out only for Mara to come back again. That's funny because I think there was a similar rhythm in the casting process of Sils Maria, another role she probably regrets not doing.
But actors making regrets is so common they're probably used to it, so she'll move on.
It's an ordinary high school day. Except that it's not.

"Gemma Arterton, Alice Eve, Mia Wasikowska, Emilia Clarke, Felicity Jones, Teresa Palmer and Sarah Gadon all auditioned for the role of Gaby Teller."
sez the Man From UNCLE trivia section here in IMDb (take it with a grain of salt, if you will). If that's the case, bet they're now all breathing a sigh of relief that they didn't get the part.
You four-eyed psycho.

I doubt it. I mean, it's a great role, and yes, I wish she had done "Carol" (and even "Sils Maria") rather than the disappointing "Crimson Peak," but unfortunately, one has to make choices - and I am sure she realizes how fortunate she is that she is considered for - and is often offered - so many quality roles.
Therese and Valentine are roles that have given critical claim to Rooney Mara (possible Oscar winner?) and Kristen Stewart (first American actress to win a Cesar, gasp), but Mia doesn't seem too concerned about that. She's 5b4building an already impressive filmography, and I am positive we'll be seeing a lot of her for many years to come. And yes, I want to see her win an Oscar eventually, and I have a feeling she will. She's here to stay.
Without you, today's emotions would be the scurf of yesterday's.

I'm glad she didn't do it, she looks too similar to Cate, Rooney is a good contrast

In a March 2013 interview promoting Stoker, Mia expressed her disappointment at not being able to do the movie, mainly for losing the opportunity to work with Cate.

I doubt it. I don't think she turned it down; it had more to do with the schedule shifting around in those films - but that's what happens a lot.
