Classic case of confusing the character with the person.
As incredible as the cast of Happy Endings was, Penny was definitely the annoying immature one out of the group.

I agree with you a little. Her characters are all definitely annoying. Is she able to pick any that aren't screaming or something? She also makes too many weird facial expressions. Blah.

I think it's more she gets cast in a lot of roles where her characters are supposed to be on the annoying side (Gone Girl and Julie & Julia, for sure) she does a good job playing the type of over-the-top characterizations of people who don't know when to STFU. I think Happy Endings was her at her best, she's really funny when playing a clumsy idiot, she did some of the best slapstick I've seen on a sitcom in a long time.
