Little known fact, the very first scene that Will Poulter made in Son of Rambow was the scene in the theater were he is crying while watching the final cut of the film they are making in the movie. To bring that level of emotion to the very first day of filming really is a tribute to his acting skills.

Bill Milner does an excellent job in
"Is Anybody There?"
with Michael Caine.
http://www.imdb.com/board/11130088/?ref_=nm_flmg_act_16
Equally very good in
"Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll"
with Andy Serkis. Andy Serkis is also brilliant in this movie.
http://www.imdb.com/board/11393020/?ref_=nm_flmg_act_12
And though something of a kid's movie, I thought Bill Milner did a very good job in "Skellig: The Owl Man" with Tim Roth.
http://www.imdb.com/board/10382301/?ref_=nm_flmg_act_14
Also look at Bill Milners IMDB page for recent photos of him, he looks very different, growing into a very handsome young man.

Glad you mentioned Milner as well. Son of Rambow was a first movie for BOTH of them.
The teaming was perfect. The fact that they became good friends certainly helped.
Imagine the idea of taking 5b42 kids with no previous acting experience and making them th STARS of the movie. The success of the movie rests entirely on them.
IT WORKED!
so YES it was the "skills on toast" of both actors that made it work.

yeah, I came away from the movie thinking more about how good of an actor that kid was than anything else. better than most of the adults in hollywood these days
