I disagree that the 1990 made for television film was a "perfectly good adaptation". I saw it a few weeks ago and I thought it was really cheesy. The always good and versatile Tim Curry was terrific, though.

Yes, but it's ANOTHER adaptation of the book. So why make it exactly the same when there's another perfectly good adaptation out there.

For one thing, it's not a remake of the beep "film". It's an adaptation of the book

See the original film, then. If you're remaking a film, there is zero point in making it exactly the same as it was before.

If a casting choice deviates greatly from the source material, then people have every right to not be happy about it.

Pennywise is supposed to be a thing of nightmares. I just can't see Poulter being able to embody that sinister quality. He's too goofy looking.
