Now that Zac Efron has turned down the FOOTLOOSE remake, the starring role should go to the actor who deserved the role to begin withDEREK HOUGH! Week after week, this extraordinarily talented, immensely likeable singer/dancer/choreographer/actor proves he's the next major movie star waiting to happen. And what a better vehicle to launch his motion picture debut than FOOTLOOSE (he played the lead in the London theatrical production, and I've heard he was sensational). Derek can dance anything from the jitterbug to the Viennese waltz to perfection. Merely by changing his clothes and hairstyles, he can project the suave elegance of Fred Astaire or the athletic sexuality of Gene Kelly. Kevin Bacon (a friend of mine) was 24 when FOOTLOOSE made him a star. Derek will turn 24 next month. W5b4hat are the powers-to-be at Paramount waiting for? Put 'FOOTLOOSE' into production pronto, and make Derek Hough the star he deserves to be!

Its a shame that Julianne has been cast as Ariel. I mean I love her and she is also an amazing dancer but in the original Ariel doesnt really dance much. Ren was the dancer. It seems a waste of her talents to have Julianne in a non dancing part rather show off Derek's talents by casting him in the lead.
Maybe they'll change it a little and make Ariel dance more so they can utilise Julianne's talents.
Id have loved to see Derek cast though.

Uhhhh too bad Julianna Hough is rumored to be in it and it would be kinda gross and awkward if her brother took the role as the guy who's trying to win her over

Since your a friend of Kevin Bacon, maybe you could get him to suggest it to Paramount. If Paramount is going to listen to anyone, why not listen to the originator of Ren Mccormic. I would listen to Kevin Bacon, since he originated the role. I agree he would be the perfect fit.
