Why the secrecy

The link that was posted in this thread years back that contained a newsletter from her old school congratulating her after she got her role on Revolution and listing her as the class of 2000 is long dead. However here's a wayback link of it

Also the Winnipeg(her hometown) Free Press published an article and mentioned that her family moved back to Canada in 1992. Tracy herself stated in a couple of interviews that she was 9 when they moved back. This info along with the school newsletter listing her as in the Class of 2000 makes 1988(which a lot of sites have listed) being her birth year dubious. I'd trust these a lot more than those other sites. The majority of them likely just got that from other places that had 1988 listed. And I really doubt she's some super genius that graduated high school only just a few months after turning 12.
AFAIK she's always been pretty secretive about her age and has never publicly disclosed her birth year or age. I think what happened was that years ago some site such as either IMDB, Wikipedia etc put up 1988 and other sites took it as gospel and copied it. Stuff like this has happened in the past with other actors. Hell this apparently happened years ago when sites had Tracy's birth year listed as 1996. Google also has 1988 as her birth year, but that scrapes information from other websites and doesn't do any fact checking.
Something like this is also going on with her Chicago PD co-star Marina Squerciati. A lot of sites have her birth year listed as 1984. However some say that she was born in 1981 and graduated college in 2003.

But, as Star has discovered, Tracys alma mater, Winnipegs cole Secondaire Oak Park High School, congratulated her in its June 2012 newsletter after she won her role on Revolution, proudly pointing to Tracy as being from the class of 2000 which would make the fresh-faced actress 29 or (gulp!) 30. But put that arrow back in the quiver, Tracy you look sensational at any age!

Anyway, that's what I could find. I don't know how reliable Radar Online is, but there you go.

The family moved to her father's hometown, Skala, Greece near Sparta, a few years after she was born, and returned to Canada in 1992 when she was about nine. She graduated from Oak Park High School in Winnipeg in 2000. So with this info it makes her about 30-31 years old.

Tracy was born in 1982-83. I found her high school transcripts and they show she graduated in 2000.

If you Google her the birth year listed on the right is 1988 which would make her 24/25 depending on her birthday

She graduated from Oak Park High School in Winnipeg in 2000. Which would make her 31 maximum.

I dont about the media or people here on imdb but i think shes beautiful and it doesnt bug me if shes in her 30s.

The whole problem is she doesn't want everyone to be biased towards her going for really young nearly teen roles and yet being in her early 30's - so playing someone about 12 years younger is quite a stretch. Especially because it's obvious she's older. she still looks young, could 16d0probably pass for 25. But a teen? No. I think the casting on Revolution was not great for her as she looks too old for the part - Elizabeth Mitchell looks like her sister, not mother. It looks ridiculous.

I'm pretty sure her High School article congratulating her is probably a pretty reliable if not most reliable source. Since the link has already be posted a few times I won't repost it, but class of 2000 is 30-31 years old.
If she really wanted it secret, she'd make she an article like that wasn't posted. So like she has mentiob68ned in interviews, age shouldn't matter so she doesn't discuss it - that's doesn't mean she's hiding or that people in the industry or outside the industry know her age. I mean if I got a starring role tomorrow in the new Star Wars film and tried to hide my age, people outside the industry would know how old I am, and I really couldn't stop all of them from posting it.
So I think it's more of a tradition thing as well. Actress of Hollywood past did the same thing. Or maybe she's bat**** crazy and really thinks she's younger than she is. Who knows. If it were me, I'd have some fun with it.

She's in her 30s.

Which is wrong. If you did a little timeline search of her career and whatnot, you'd find she's not 16 years old. One of the best sources I found was a castmember that accidentally mentioned she was 25.
One thing I recently learned is that she's engaged.

Linda Cardellini was about 30 when she was playing a high schooler in Freaks and geeks, and it was shocking.
Linda was 24/25 in 'Freaks and Geeks'.

i just looked on Wikipedia. there's one person on there who keeps her age in the mid-20's probably because of that article. you know how people are. they want every celebrity to be younger. i would trust that adobe article from her old school before i would some article that strategically gives some random younger age.

When an actress turns 30, her career takes a dive, so this chick has done a damn fine job hiding her true age. (She certainly didn't prepare for Revolution.) She's clearly not a teen. She's playing a woman in her early 20s, which means she's at least mid-20s. Some people are placing her age at 30, which is possible.

I was watching Access Hollywood today and they had a story on Revolution and they said that Tracy is 25 years old.
