I saw it just recently and loved it. Jean Vigo's first film at the age of 27, before he made his last when he was 28, his masterpiece,
L'Atalante
, released in 1934, the year he died from TB at the age of 29. I'm sure he would have made many great films, if he hadn't left us so soon.
For the record, the great cinematographer, Boris Kaufman shot both
Zero for Conduct
and
L'Atalante
. Kaufman later went on to shoot a lot of great American films, including
On the Waterfront, Long Day's Journey Into Night,
and
12 Angry Men
.
