This 1948 Swedish drama tells the story of a suicidal factory girl who falls in love with a sailor. Can they overcome the obstacles and find a way to be together? Port of Call is a well made film, frank (for its time) and non-judgemental in the way it tells its story. Nine-Christine Jönsson is very good in a magnetic performance and Bergman does a good job telling the story. The film is not as good as his later masterpieces, but still worth the journey. I rate Port of Call an 8/10.

Haven't seen this Bergman film, but it sounds like I need to see. Thanks for the recommendation.
