<p dir="auto">I liked the look of the film and the music is good too. The actors do a fine job. I didn't find the story as exciting or as compelling as it could have been though. For me, this was a good movie, but not one of the best film noir films. It is still worth watching though. My rating is a 7/10.</p>

<p dir="auto">Agreed. And here's an interesting side-note: Ida Lupino took over directing for awhile when Nicholas Ray fell ill. She had begun directing the year before with<br />

, and had a long career directing after that – the only woman in Hollywood who was directing throughout the fifties and the sixties. Kudos to her for that.</p>
