Not a very sophisticated question. Normally if the OP starts his own thread of thoughts or specifies more where he wants to take the discussion, it's a little easier for us to bounce off of.
ironically, when I made my top films of all time list, Touch of Evil was 2 and Chinatown was 3, so that's kind of random
if anyone's curious, here it is.

Touch of Evil
may be superior to
Chinatown
in most waysexcept for the score.
Like I said, no noir film score is as great as
Chinatown
and that's very easy to prove. Goldsmith's score is arguably one of the great works of music from the 20th music, period; I'm certainly not the only person who thinks this:

TOUCH OF EVIL is superior to CHINATOWN in every way its a no contest. The Nicholson movie has no right being mentioned in even the same sentence as the Welles classic.

They're both regarded as all-time great films but for me it's always about the film score.
It is impossible for any noir score from either the classic noir or neo noir to be as great as
Chinatown
.

Chinatown. It's one of those 70s films I love.
Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler of Black Sabbath watch My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic
