I think she's beautiful, but she also fits the role requirement of "Have courage and be kind," as prescribed by her mother. You can't forget these qualities that not all actresses can pull off, despite their best attempts. She emotes these exceptionally, IMO.

posting something like this. Putting aside how very good-looking Lily James is, there is unlikely a single actress in the business who could've delivered the kind of genuine innocence and sincerity she did. Every single shot she was in made me
believe
the emotions she was conveying. A more gorgeous actress would've tried and failedfailed
miserably
in comparison to what James accomplished. She may not be one of the top five most attractive people in existence, but the performance she gave could've made up for her looks even if she were as plain as Laura Dern or Amy Pohler.
It even pisses me off a little that a movie-making performance should come second to the fact that the star isn't a f**ing top-shelf beauty.

I also had the same thought that she is misfit for the role but now i realize that No one could have played that role as beautifully and perfectly as she did.By the way she is a charming girl with a great beauty of tallent and simplicity.Now she is my favourite actess.

I also noticed that Cinderella was somewhat plain. I actually came here to make a thread about it.
I think Cinderalla was made to look plain on purpose(If you look up pics of the actress who played her, she is actually reallu beautiful). The "ugly" stepmother was stunningly beautiful in every scene by comparison. I think it was a commentary on inner beauty. Overall, I like the way they did it. It was a good message.

Cinderella is supposed to be stunningly beautiful when she dresses up for the ball. Lily James was not even close to stunningly beautifulI. Heck, I can name two different girls on my street that blow her away in beauty and there's only 7 houses on my street. Lily James is nothing special. She's just OK. Cinderella should be much more than just OK. The casting was terrible.
