The old ones actually don't hold up that good, especially after the sequel trilogy that had better special effects and better characters. I doubt kids today even watch the old movies.

Amen brother. People think that because the prequels have become meme-machines that they're inherently good or something, when in reality it's the opposite. The dialogue is memorable precisely because it's so bad.
Lucas really lucked out with the sequels, as his failure was completely overshadowed by one of an even greater magnitude.
