YOLT is not even the best Bond film, let alone Connery Bond film.

I could go either way on YOLT. It has a lot of good things in, like the redhead henchwoman and Blofeld who I like. I also love the action scenes in this one. But it does have that one section where Bond dresses to look Japanese which brings the movie to halt, but I guess it recovers. So it's good overall, but could have been better. A middle of the pack entry for me.

Well, people are thrilled and excited by different things. And there's nothing in this film that thrills or excites me. When you grown up, you may come to realise that tastes can differ.

Verily I say unto thee..YOLT is the most thrilling and exciting movie ever made but as I am not a medical man it is not for me to comment on the reasons why anyone would not find it to be. I would rather not be privy to the medical history of other users thank you very much so can only offer pity in this instance I'm afraid.

No "radar blackout device" could ever stop anyone within a hundred miles of Blofeld's volcano base including all the Ama islanders, every ship at sea, or any aircraft in the area from simply seeing the SPECTRE Intruder Missiles taking off (and returning).
The problem isn't that they don't see the missile, the problem is that they can't find where it lands and don't know who it belongs to. The entire point of Bond going to Japan is because Mi6 is aware of the missiles and their connection to Japan, but cannot figure out where they're coming from and where they go. Bond's supposed to find it for them. The villagers aren't going to do much to help. And even if they could, all they'll say is "it disappears" or "hey, some people died when they went into this one cave".
The US doesn't care about the Japan stuff because they're convinced it's the Russians. The Russians don't care about the Japan stuff because they're convinced it's the Americans. It's actually kind of a joke on how focused the countries are on each other rather than everything else going on.
This movie has secret agent ninjas, by the way.

May I add that possibly the thing that has been irking me most among the goofs in YOLT (and no, I'm not saying this disqualifies the movie overall in any way) is that the "Soviet" rocket launch obviously shows a Titan, complete with Florida palm trees, and the "American" launch a Soyuz or whatever it was at the time.

Yes, but they are mere villagers. We're supposed to assume they aren't very bright or aware of goings-on around them. Just think of them as backward knuckle-draggers who witness an awesome sight (which they can't explain) and then immediately forget about it. Until it happens again. And again.

Though I would offer the fix is not necessarily to slam YOLT and MOONRAKER more.
When instead, we can all have fun with the, let's face it, litany of silly holes and ideas that make our favorite franchise function.
It is dumb. Just, there's no need to posture as smart in relation. We all are so, I guarantee it; we
all
can generate vastly more plausible storylines than any and all Bond movies. We all
know
that's not the way space shuttles work, or how cars work, or how governments work, or how fights on trains work, or how poker works. (Sheesh, pot splasher!)

Yes, as Bond fans we routinely cut the films some slack where plot-holes and minor faux pas are concerned (after all, no movie is perfect) but since nobody in YOLT ever mentions a super-duper "blindness ray" then the
magically invisible rocket launches
are simply a bridge too far for me.

Sure but its all along the same lines as an unknown nuclear installation on Crab Key, employing dozens if not hundreds, being built and staffed and resupplied without anyone, even the local girl who swims therenoticing anything until James comes along. All the way through installations within meteor craters in Africa, etc. (Wait, aren't meteor craters
studied
? There probably isn't a
worse
place in the African wilderness to "hide" than the one spot in the desert that governments and universities send students and scientists and tourists)
I'm not saying its not realistically dumb. I'm saying its part of the unrealistic/fantasy premise that you either buy in to and embrace for enjoyment or you are choosing a formulaic franchise that is not for you. Or at least the content creators place an expectation upon you to at least
try.
The "I can point out how Bond stuff doesn't really work" thing seems as off target as criticism as possible because they actually do know things don't work that way when they craft the stories. Or at least, they don't care. And why should they? There are no dilithium crystals or halflings or robin hoodish multicultural streetcar racing gangs or superheroes or engineered spies like Jason Bourne or gunfighters like the man with no name either. None of it is realistic.

YOLT has a lot of problems, yes but the main reason I regard it as "stupid" is because of the incredibly poor writing it's almost DAD bad!
One can ignore its warts and blemishes to find enjoyment, but once you realize the following, the entire thing collapses to the ground:
As a kid in the '60s living in Florida, I was able to witness the launch of a NASA rocket a
night launch
. It was pretty damn awesome, actually.
The thing is YOU CAN SEE I.C.B.M.-SIZED ROCKETS TAKING OFF AT NIGHT WITH THE NAKED EYE FOR A HUNDRED-MILE RADIUS.

I 100% agree. It is not as boring as DAF nor TMWTGG, it is a little uneven in the pacing throughout the movie.
Generally, I like the movie, even though its not Connery's best. It is a very campy, bombastic, and overtop Bond film.
There is a poster on these boards who believes that this film is the cornerstone of Western Civilization. Some peons are entertained with less mental stimulation and more moving action.
