made me think if there are any movies where people wake up 'normally' after a bad dream.<br />
One of the comments to the montage above says:<br />
The best waking from a bad dream is from 1979's "Phantasm." The character simply opens his eyes with very little expression. Probably the most realistic "rude awakening" in film.<br />
I myself do not remember any scenes like this in any movie I've seen.<br />

<p dir="auto">I've always thought that this was one of the most ludicrous tropes. It is very widely used but rarely happens in real life.<br />
In fact it is actually pretty difficult to lie on your back, under covers, and then rapidly sit bolt upright. Try it.</p>
