We used to watch these on Saturday morning pictures over here in the UK, but they did appear on TV:
The East Side Kids aka The Bowery Boys.
I presume they must all be dead now (sorry to be so morbid) but does anyone have any memories, Stateside especially?

He was one of my heroes, too.

Sky King aired on ABC radio, Oct. 28, 1946 - Jun. 2, 1950. Appearing on the show as Schuyler (Sky) King were Jack Lester, Roy Engel, Earl Nightingale and John Reed King. Beryl Vaughn as Penny. Jack Bivens and Johnny Coons as Clipper. After the radio show ended, the property had moved to TV with (perhaps) a more photogenic cast, as had the Lone Ranger although George W. Trendle's masked man continued his radio adventures which had started in the 1930's through the early '50's TV production which also featured more photogenic leads.

How come Sky King topic is in the 1940's? Sky King was a Saturday morning staple along with Captain Midnight on American TV in the 1950's. I may be in error but I believe Sky King was a radio show before being adapted to TV.

No produce? Not too many veggies, then. I've seen a few kids shows from England over the years, the black and white ones, mostly as dreary as the ones over here. I must get cracking.

You'll have to bear with us and realise that over here in the UK, although we got a lot of American shows.we didn't get everything, AND there are lot of people this side of the pond who frequent the IMDb.
And for TDF - there was very little produce for kids during that period.

I'll tell u who Sky King was, sort of. He was a modern cowboy guy who flew a prop airplane and solved crimes with the help of younger man and woman, tho' then she would have been called a girl. You can look it up on imdb if u want. The show was primarily aimed at kids on Saturday mornings. The remark about Sky Queen was meant to be ironic, sort of. I don't usually bother to do this much explaining, but I liked your honest answer. Maybe you can tell me about some of your kids shows across the pond. Cheery bye.
