I sometimes watch the Forensic Detectives and The FBI Files, where it is implied that those people getting their come uppance of life imprisonment without the possibility of parole have nothing to do in their cells but to sit there with their thoughts. It is hard not to feel compassion, but that is not to empathise in any way. I wonder who the people are who make the rules for these inmates, and what it would take to give these inmates things to do.
