I dropped Disney+ months ago and resubscribed recently with their special offer of 3 months for $1.99 each with ads. Now I feel all ghetto and ****. The ads are intrusive, but not nearly as much as other ad supported sites like youtube which show ads literally every two minutes. Just enough ads on Disney+ Ghetto Edition to make you feel bad for being poor. I think their real goal is to shame you into paying for the regular service, which has already gone through 4 price increases and costs double what it did when it debuted just a few years ago.
It worked, too. I'll never take another deal with ads again. Goodbye ghetto, hello Park Avenue!

Glad youre catching up hungry. The $1.99 a month is to help support reparations. The difference in the price is paid for by the DNC
I don't do Disney but got a free offer for asspple TV which I am enjoying

That's ridiculous considering how much prime costs.
I actually got rid of prime a few months ago. I literally never watch anything on prime and was looking at how much I "saved on free prime shipping" over the course of having prime for several years and it was like $63… less than I paid for prime for 4 months. I almost never order anything through amazon and consider every aspect of amazon to be complete ****. They can keep it. Net result was I "saved" something like -$500…
And whatever happened to prime day? Used to be once a year, and now it's like every 2 months? It's all about them unloading junk they otherwise couldn't sell without "discounting" it. lol
Do you watch shows/movies on Amazon Prime? They're adding ads next year too, unless you pay an extra $3 per month for the ad-free version:
OMG!!!
Nice bump, XXPO!

Do you watch shows/movies on Amazon Prime? They're adding ads next year too, unless you pay an extra $3 per month for the ad-free version:
"…Starting in early 2024, Prime Video shows and movies will include limited advertisements," the company stated. "Ads in Prime Video content will be introduced in the U.S., U.K., Germany, and Canada in early 2024, followed by France, Italy, Spain, Mexico, and Australia later in the year."
Although the press release didn't specify just how many ads will be included in the ad-supported version of Prime Video, it's safe to say that "limited" ads won't be as enjoyable as the ad-free experience we've come to love.
As of right now, Prime members don't need to do anything. The company also noted that Prime members will receive an email "several weeks" ahead of the official rollout to give them the option to upgrade to ad-free streaming by paying the $3 premium.

That's just criminal behavior. I used to download **** when I was actually poor, but that's been decades ago now. I actually don't mind paying for content, but I do think the streaming services have gotten insanely greedy lately so I can see why some people feel justified in stealing, they just can't afford it.
"Renting from a library is 'lower class'?!"
In the conspicuous consumption sense.
Aha!…
"conspicuous consumption"
. ☻
I'll think about that term tomorrow.

Ever since HBO. People can still use Kanopy or pirate for ad-free streaming, but like renting from the library or stealing those are markers of lower class because you aren't paying for the privilege.
Renting from a library is
"lower class"
?!
Public libraries lend out books for free.
If I use that service does that make me a hobo?

without the ads,
just an old saying as food for thought:
You learn to cook from the poor.
