While I appreciate that a professionally-written cover letter is required to sell a screenplay, I feel that the criteria is beyond me to actually write. As a newby with spec scripts and 40+ years of writing them behind me, I am tempted to add that my paranoid schizophrenia prevents me from writing such a thing. In the meantime script agents' preferences for having the cover letter is delaying the production of the screenplay. Why can't the cover letter be simply-written by one such as I?

The first four screenplays begin the story of my main character trying to get his mental health back by talking to and interacting with AI bots. The next four screenplays, which have a different title, continue this. Each one is a story in it's own right but also follows on from the previous one. It is more an epic. There is also a prequel that I have to include with them. I am not going to start another screenplay that keeps it tight, because I think that these nine are sellable. They also have a sub-plot about computer shielding.
In a Rambo film, Rambo says in answer to a question about his background, "It's a long story." And I thought that this was referring to the original script/s that Sylvester Stalone was given to read before another screenwriter turned it into something more manageable.
I like to think that this will happen with my nine screenplays. If I can sell all nine for the price of one that would be good, and after I have done that I could upload the nine screenplays as free-to-reads.

I just thought I'd mention it, in the hope that it would somehow make me exempt from writing one.
On another note, I think I've got nine screenplays that have progressed the dialogue between my main character and the other characters concerning the subject matter, but in so doing I have kind of lost track of the main story. I think there is another screenplay coming to mind that would stay tight to the story and plot and to what I want to say. Then I could present that one to agents.
