Something happens to the pilots of a commercial jumbo jet then someone who has very little to no flying experience takes over the controls and lands it perfectly without a scratch or any passengers injured?
I was checking out Executive Decision but changed the channel as soon as that was going on because I am sick of that.
Of course he is going to land it safely.
How else is it going to turn out?
Anyone else feel that way?

No. They're all copying Airplane!'s parody of such ancient films.
What I'm tired of:
The bad guy beating up the good guy (or viceversa) and the guy standing there, NOT even ACTING but simply waiting for the choreographed blow to occur.
WHY can't they ACT while they stand there?? Like try to get away, act dazed, SOMETHING!!!
Also tired of:
A person being pursued by gun armed criminals. They get home, they don't bother to lock the front door. WTF??
I don't need to know you know you're safe cos it's in the script. STUPID!

Hardly anybody born in the 70s is 80 years old. I think there's like 2 people.

I mean if Airplane! was already explicitly subverting this "cliche" in 1980 when tf was its heyday? 70s cop shows? LMAO

This is probably a cliche for people who are like 80 years old and born in the 70s

Ya know, I actually saw and remember that episode and was thinking of it when I started this thread!
YT won't let me watch it because of copyright issues.
Yeah, that kid talked him through it because he watched his dad fly his private plane.
So the private plane his dad owns is a jet just like that?
LOL
Big difference and so unreal!
And of course he is a geek who also wears glasses.

There was an episode of The Incredible Hulk where he had to land a plane too. Some kid helped him by telling him to ease up on the pedals and how to use the landing gear to get the wheels to open.

What you said is more of a main plot line rather than a cliche, a cliche is something like the black guy dying first.
