Years ago in UK there was a late night TV strand called "Eurocop" which showed crime thriller movies, usually from France. Things like Un Flic, Three Men to Kill, Circle Rouge, Borsalino. So lots of Delon, Belmondo, Lino Ventura…
I want to track down a particular film that I watched and don't believe I've seen since, despite having watched scores of flic movies
The scene I remember:
Date around 1970
Our Hero (Delon or similar 😂) is being pursued
He enters a bar and asks to use the telephone
Barkeeper directs him to a booth downstairs
He makes his call, but as soon as he returns upstairs to the bar, a car drives by and shoots up the bar, trying to kill Our Hero
Must've been absolute carnage, though I don't remember it - just the car opening fire
Not much to go on I'm afraid, and it sounds like a typical clichéd scene, but I've never seen it in that exact sequence -
pursuit / bar / stairs / phone / stairs / gunfire

Think so

France probably
Was the car a Citroen or a Fiat?
no idea
Did the scene take place at night or day?
think it was dark outside
Is the movie overall, dark (e.g., "Los Doulos") or is it bright with lots of daytime sequences?

Is the movie color or B&W?
Don't remember
Is the film cheap/cheesy looking or is it rich, with lush photography?
I think it was well filmed - similar quality to films by Jean Pierre Melville
