I hope that Melvyn is among those UK prisoners being given early release. We were once close friends, that was 20 years ago, and he was rehoused into my area in the hope that we would become friends again. But having heard from him what the criminal accusation was I steered clear and went my own way. This is just to say that he did not strike me as being that kind of a person, so I hope that his release will be imminent.

He was accused of being a paedophile. The reality is he was living on the top floor of a five or so story building next to a group of paedos and he tried to help them to turn from their ways and believe in Jesus, but he got caught up with them in some way. He told me one day when we met in a shop that "I just wanted you to know that I didn't do it." I feel that it is not an outright lie.
