The plastic bag represented a part of everything that was transformed into something beautiful which even resides in the most mundane. Its how one looks at things and what's really relevant about our lives.
Even your example with Ricky looking at Lester, what could easily be seen as revulsion by many. Lester looked liked he had been released and his death wasn't really tragic but beautiful and that is what Ricky saw.
His dad was an abusive psycho, he himself had been committed, he was only young. No one could really touch Ricky. What could anyone do to Ricky that hadn't already been done to him apart from kill him?
There was an original ending with Ricky and Jane getting apprehended for Lester's murder. I'm glad they excised that.
Norman! What did you put in my tea?

Like most Oscar winners this film was insanely overrated. I thought the script was terrible, the acting mediocre at best. And I'm a fan of Spacey, I just thought it sucked. That's a NO for me!

I'm not sure what you mean regarding the subtitles. They just come with whatever upload was made available.
I find some of the foreign subtitled versions are better quality than the none subtitled ones at times.

I know, but I'm guessing there's so many it would be cool if some people would post the best stuff.
One problem is the subtitles. I tried to download one movie with the add-on VideoDownloader, but the max was about 30 seconds of a particular movie. I thought I could always go to another site to grab the subtitles and hope they sync.
Nice description! I think I brought up that movie because I was too focused on work. I was poor when I was a young adult and in a situation that I forced myself to make enough money in case I went through a rainy day or a rainy decade! I felt obligated to my friend/business partner but the things she did on the side was getting to be too much where I didn't want to be a part of it and we resolved my departure so now I need to find out how to live my remaining years.
re: to the last paragraph. If I find anything great I will upload it.

I liked the narration and the anti-materialist theme. One of my favorite scenes is when The Burnham's finally get romantic, but before it's consummated, she kills the mood, the "now", but saying, "Lester, you're gonna get beer all over the couch".
"It's just a ****ing couch!"
And all she can say is how much it cost.. I guess I'd say the best part is that it starts out with him as a wimp, and how he finally declares his independence. Also surprising that he never gets jealous that she's ****ing the real estate guy, and that when he finally gets what he wants, he doesn't want it anymore. Part of that could be him being surprised at Mena's virginity, and how he doesn't want to take that from her, that she should lose it to someone else. He kinda wakes up when he can see the fear as she says, "This is my first time".
I saw the movie when it came out, still a teen, but I had hope for movies. "Trainspotting" came out a few years earlier, "Buffalo '66" (my #10) came out in 1998, "Magnolia" and a few more, but soon I realized it was a short spark of creativity.
I know I'm getting off-topic a bit, but I wish some more people (maybe some of you?) would upload movies onto YouTube, or at least recommend some great stuff, but not just for the sake of doing it. Something great that can stand with any other movie.
