I am betting with the bullsh-t CGI gore trend which probably cut gore budgets, affected projects as a whole. Even for legends like him.

I would also like to see him get more work, he's not that old, if only Hollywood wasn't so reliant on CGI maybe he would still get a lot of big projects like he had in the 80's and 90's.

Mostly retired now. He did the makeup for
Joffrey's death scene
in Game of Thrones and some FX works on a short film in 2015, that's about all he's done for the past 15 years.
