It's the same killer! Hello - Billy and Billy. If this fact beat us over the head any harder we'd all have a goddamn concussion.
The events of SN, DN take place before the events of Black Christmas. Everyone thought Billy died at the end of SN, DN. But nope. He received medical treatment and was in a mental ward for a number of years before he escaped, hiding out in Canada, and set his sights on the sorority house seen in Black Christmas.
This isn't a theory, but a fact. I can't believe this ain't discussed more.

yeah but the OP must be talking about that one because SN DN doesn't take place before the original black christmas.
also the OP refers to Billy being in a mental institution and escaping which is exactly what happened in the remake
