Does anybody think it will come back? What exactly killed it? I persoanlly feel that the horror remake trend finished it off, starting with 'The Ring 2002'

Wasn't it just kinda replaced by the post-2000 teen horror genre? They still make lots of teen-centric horror movies like "Ouija". They just seem to get more PG-13, so actual teens can see them in the theaters.
They also have a trend going where the "teenagers" get more and more attractive and less and less believable as ACTUAL teenagers (because the actors are 20-25 years old), yet they have no onscreen sex/nudity like they did back in the 80's, thus making them even MORE useless. But THAT particular trend started back in 1990's with your Neve Campbells, Sara Michelle Gellars, and Jennifer Love Hewitts.
There is more difference in my opinion between the 80's and 90's teen horror films than the 90's teen horror films and the teen horror films of today.
"Let be be finale of seem/ The only emperor is the Emperor of Ice Cream"
