I've read plenty of old-fashioned anthologies, but I don't think I've come across her before. Article on her here, as the first lady of horror:
http://www.vice.com/en_uk/read/remembering-the-forgotten-first-lady-of-horror-cynthia-asquith
Her filmography is limited:
http://www.imdb.com/board/20039712/?ref_=fn_al_nm_1
Worth checking out?

Cynthia is quite well known amongst anthologists of the ghost story. You have to remmember that the ghost story, as a literary genre, is considered quite separate from horror. At least for most of the 19th and 20th century, especially in the U.K. There is a bit more overlap now, due to marketing and the fact that in cinema the two forms are considered one and the same. But the overlap is very slight, like how the thriller and the horror overlap I suppose. The Asquith's were a very noted and influential family in the British aristocracy. Of course that comes with all the inevitable class baggage, but Asquith was phenomenally well read and a very clever lady. I've a lot of time for her
