Last week it was NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD. This week it is FRIDAY THE 13TH playing at my local theater for $5.
I didn't enjoy this experience as much, but it had nothing to do with the movie. I don't think the transfer was good. It looked like it had been sped up slightly. You know how old TV shows look when there been sped up to meet modern day commercial standards? Well, it looked like that. The opening hand-held camera work was very shaky, to an unnatural degree.
The sound mix was pretty bad too. The background noises were very prominent throughout, and some of the vocals, like screams, were painful to my ears. The conversation between Annie and Enos was very difficult to here due to the truck's engine noise.
The print they used was the extended version unfortunately. And the sound appeared to be a mono mix.
Did anyone here see if in theaters in 1980? If so, how was the sound? Was it as bad as I am describing?
Overall, though. I'm glad I went. To see a classic on the big screen is a real treat, and a reel treat too.

I saw it when it was originally released, but I was 10, and it was 36 years ago, I honestly couldn't remember anything about pic or sound quality.
I collect dead pigeons then I press them between the pages of a book.
