Viewed in mid eighties on 'Kung Fu Theatre' . Perhaps Shaw Brothers or associates. Official convoy is traveling by carts and the soldiers are slowly being assassinated, poisen lanterns stands out. Driving me crazy.

I recommend that link. Some fans have tried to compile a list of every MA film that aired on US TV during that time period. Includes a list of films for "Kung Fu Theatre" "Black Belt TV" and more. Though when you mentioned a convoy my thoughts went to "Kid with the Golden arm" about a travelling convoy with gold that is attacked.
