And I missed it! Was watching the boxing & then came across it when channel hopping afterwards, but it was near he end.
It was on a channel called Estuary which is a channel that is for the Lincolnshire/Yorkshire region of the UK. They also show the old Chaplin silent shorts too.
I am going through a book of 1001 movies to see before you die & that is one of them, I am gutted I missed it. Luckily there is also the 1925 Phantom of the Opera on tonight with Lon Chaney, but given the choice I would rather watch Nosferatu instead.
Really hope the channel shows it again in the near future, the film has always been one I want to see.
Has anyone seen it? If so what did you think of it?

It was the first full-length silent film I ever saw (at least I think so) and it still gives me the creeps.

Finally watched it today. The wife surprised me with the DVD a couple of weeks ago, it was supposed to be a 2 disc edition with documentary, the tinted version etc
What I got was a one disc with no features on it, despite the cover saying 2 disc edition. The rating on the disc was different from the cover too, lol.
But never mind I still finally got to watch it. It is a very creepy film, the music score I felt was rather comical at the beginning, not sure if that is the case on all releases of it.
The performances were pretty good and as said Max Schrek was genuinely creepy as Orlok. Worth the wait indeed.

I would buy that DVD but the other DVD's in my collection could never sleep at night
Perhaps not the scariest movie of all-time but certainly Thee Creepiest!!!!

Cheers Maddy, I would prefer to watch a feature length film on a big TV if possible. I only watch short films old & new on YouTube.
I will see if the channel shows it again as it has done with other films, but if not then YouTube it is, lol.
You mention the visual look of the film, that is a big part of why I want to see it as I love the whole Expressionism of German cinema of that time.
I will also look into Shadow of a Vampire, sounds intriguing.
Thanks again.

Hi Jamie.
Sorry that you missed this film. It is currently available on YouTube if you don't mind watching films on the computer. I prefer the tinted version, if you type in
Nosferatu
1922 tinted it comes up.
I can't recommend it highly enough. Count Orlok(the films Dracula)is one of the creepiest and most bizarre looking film characters. The visual look of the film is unforgettable, lots of shadows and a creepy atmosphere.
The Phantom of the Opera
is good too, Chaney at his very best. Hopefully you could watch both today.
Shadow of the Vampire
(2000)is a very good film about the making of
Nosferatu
and speculates that the actor who played the Count may actually have been a vampire(doubt that very much)but it's fun to watch once you've seen
Nosferatu
.
Hope this helps.
Go to bed Frank or this is going to get ugly
.
