I never saw
Pacific Heights
. It never appealed to me. I don't find Modine that pleasant to watch for the reasons you stated. I don't even find him sexy or that charismatic. He was ok in FMJ due to the cold tone of Kubrick.

I thought it was passable as entertainment. It's biggest attraction for me is Melanie Griffith. And Matthew Modine is, imo, not a very good actor. He's cute/sexy, but he always comes across as a smug, spoiled brat.
I didn't get the Michael Keaton character.
