I found this film to be frighteningly realistic. A story like this could really happen and similar situations like these do indeed happen in the field. They do a good job at getting many small details correct but its just not enough to sustain the story. The film falls short on suspense and never gets quite dark or sinister enough to make it a truly terrifying film. Steaming on HBOMax.

It often happens the other way round too, where a patient becomes obsessively in love with their doctor and makes up illnesses to keep seeing them.
