<p dir="auto">Destry Rides Again (1939) has classy production values with the irreplaceable Dietrich and Stewart. Destry (1954), same plot, is in colour and with the underrated Murphy, overall perhaps more in tune with a 50's sensibility.. I have included the 1932 Mix version for the sake of completeness though I haven't seen it. There is also a TV series but it does not employ the same plot.<br />
I think you'll find things are a little more complicated than that.</p>
