And there'll be another article
in three more years
declaring its demise again. We're still getting newly released 3-D blu-rays and they look spectacular. 3-D will never be a mass market item, but will remain more of a niche. Now, the manufacturers are hyping UHD 4K which doesn't need glasses. Much the way CinemaScope supplanted 3-D in the early 1950s, yet sporadic work in 3-D cinema continued throughout those decades in which it was declared "dead."
FWIW, based on the performance of some LG appliances, I wouldn't buy an LG anything anymore anyway.

3D will always be around, long after youve gone from IMDb. And without glasses too.

According to 3D Film Archive, Region A was the only licencing that the rights holders would permit.
Making what is already a niche market even smaller doesn't increase sales but it does give a greater window of opportunity for someone wishing to upload the content to a torrent site, resulting in, surprise, even fewer sales.
It's incredible that after all this time anyone thinks regional coding and staggered releases have any merit whatsoever.
Movies are often made by people who are geniuses but then marketed by people who have room temperature IQs. "John Carter" is a recent example.

After seeing that Panamint was releasing 3-D, we made sure to get a region-free player. However, they released INFERNO all region after initially releasing for region B. It wouldn't surprise me if ICROS got a Region A release, too, though I hadn't noticed GOG was only Region A. That does stink.

Unfortunately the voodoo marketing BS of regional coding means that "Gog" will be region A only and "It Came from Outer Space" will be region B only.
I'm not normally quick to anger but this kind of thing makes me want to start taking hostages.

And a fantastic restoration of "Gog" is coming out, too!
From what I understand ICFOS also includes the Nat King Cole short that was released with the feature originally. Very cool!

Still going strong in my house.
"It Came from Outer Space" gets a 3D Blu-ray release later this year: throbbing with anticipation.

It's just the point of view of that particular writer. 3D is sill huge. About 1 in 5 movies are released theatrically in 3D, and when you go into a Best Buy these days they have a hundred or more titles of the latest releases. Your "Good Bye" aint gonna happen.
