Yeah, have heard of him. One of the new age Bong director, Birsa Dasgupta, was probably named after him. People in Bengal do look upto him.

Every life story is worth telling.
Here we have a nice confluence of Christian missionary activity, the Raj and tribal rights. I'm sure a decent film is hidden in there somewhere.
Even today, the confluence of Indian crony capitalism and tribal rights is a battleground, and a sad state of affairs.
