<p dir="auto">Who do you think are the best screenplay writers of all time. And I don't mean writer-directors like Coppola or Woody Allen; I mean people whose work was distinctive even in films directed by other people.<br />
We know Salim-Javed will make the cut. I'd also include Charlie Kauffman, maybe Nora Ephron; even though both of them turned director later in life, their primary success was as a screenplay writer.<br />
Any more names on the list?<br />

<p dir="auto">Without question it is GEORGE S. KAUFMAN, who wrote the screenplays for some of the immortal Marx Brothers movies. He also won the PULITZER PRIZE twice.<br />

<p dir="auto">SREENIVASAN - malayali writer-director. but more of a prolific writer than director. wrote these hilarious and touching comedies about the malayali middle class in the 80s and 90s.</p>

<p dir="auto">DANIEL CLOWES - graphic comic artist. wrote GHOST WORLD, ART SCHOOL CONFIDENTIAL and WILSON (2017). his screenplays are filled with cynical characters with a very dark outlook of the world.<br />
JAMES.C.STROUSE - writer-director but more well known for his screenplays. work includes LONESOME JIM.<br />
EVERETT DE ROCHE - aussie writer well known for his screenplays set in the outback. famous work includes ROAD GAMES, LONG WEEKEND etc. tarantino is a huge fan.</p>
