Johnny Depp is one of my favorite actor and I have a lot of respect for him. The fact that he is such a nutjob is one of the main reasons I like him so much.
All this being said, let's say the truth as it is: he is a drug addict and a complete alcoholic, who has a real hard time controlling himself and managing his own life. I think she's probably overdone it in terms of the whole victim routine and as you quite rightly say, she's not a good actor.
