I already apologized to you for listing "Crocodile Rock" on another thread.
And mostly dope? "The Greatest Discovery" is coma-inducing saccharine.
Anyway, we made peace so long ago that it`s not kind for either of us to re-open old wounds this close to the edge of oblivion.

No denying Karen
s talent as a drummer, less convinced about Richard
s talent in the fields you mention. As for Karen
s voice, beauty is in the ear of the listener. I don
t like her voice at all.

Mungo Jerry's In the Summertime was no.1 when I was born, & that's a truly terrible song; it even advocates drink-driving.
The Crapenters? Are you serious? Even if you don't like their particular brand of cosiness there's no denying that she was a talented drummer with a beautiful voice, & he an extremely talented songwriter, pianist & arranger.

Probably about 35 of the top 100 for that year that I don't recall from the title or don't remember well enoughincluding four of your picks (The Moments, The Original Caste, Five Man Electrical Band & Freda Payne), but the rest I like.
For three of artists I mentioned above I don't recall their names at all. The Original Caste is the only name I remember. But going back to 1970 we're getting to when I was 7 to 8 years old, so there will be more that I only have a vague memory of at this point, unless I continued to listen to whatever it is later (either voluntarily or because it had legs as a radio staple).

Merle Haggard's "The Fightin' Side of Me" doesn't convey my views but by golly it sure did convey those of millions of people. And for that reason I think it's a great song. The divide the late Mr Haggard points to in that number, and in "Okie from Muskogee", has relevance today.

I wouldn't have remembered what that Bobby Sherman tune sounded likeor any Bobby Sherman tune, but a few years ago I downloaded a bunch of Bobby Sherman (along with some other stuff like that) out of nostalgic curiosity because one of my sisters liked him a lot at the time. I dug him a lot more than I expected to, including "Easy Come, Easy Go". Most of his material was very crafty in terms of the arrangements, the playing from the studio musicians, etc.

Ooops. I was thinking of 1971 because I recall the Five Man Electrical Band's "Signs" being from that year. Same with the Lobo hit.

Coven
s version was used in the film Billy Jack and was released in 1971. It virtually eclipsed Original Caste
s, um, original.

Lobo's "Me and You and a Dog Named Boo" was pretty bad.
On the East Coast, the most commonly heard version of "One Tin Soldier" was by Coven.
