Good album which could have been very goodLittle trimming here and there (Like he should have done with
Emancipation
) and dumping of the "NPG Operator" segments and this album would be great("P-Control", "Endorphinmachine" and "Billy Jack" Bitch are highlights)

Decent indeed, actually I think it's pretty damn good. The sketches and overall concept completely fail and the production aged worse than his '80s work, but there's some great music on it. "Dolphin" might be his single most underrated song and while "Gold" wasn't his next "Purple Rain" as he'd promised, it's a really good pop song by anyone's standards.
Eh I don't know what 'phallocentric' means, but NO GIRLS!

'Dolphin' has been a favourite since first I heard it on the album. From the quivering tremolo intro, to the gentle delivery of the first few lines which burst into a lively chorus with the assistance of a lightening surge of lead guitar; a relaxed refrain and so to that gorgeous, seemingly effortless guitar solo at 02:52.
The close of the video is particularly eerie, as Mayte, Prince's then wife, caresses his head tenderly and closes his eyelids as he appears to die in her arms.
To my ears, one of Prince's most underestimated and neglected tracks.
'Dolphin'

I like it a lot, was surprised to find out it's out of print. My favorite song on it is probably "The Most Beautiful Girl in the World."

Arguably the best album from his "Artist Formerly known As" phase. "The Most Beautiful Girl in the World", "Gold", "Shy", and "Billy Jack Bitch" were all great tracks.
